Important Club Announcement

In December NZ Football announced a new national league structure. From 2021 the national league will move to a Club based team format, along with a new pinnacle Football South Youth competition that promotes development, sustainability and provides pathways for our elite players.

This new Football South Youth Development League is at U16 and U14 age groups. To compete successfully in these new leagues our Junior Club will be forming a new "hub" with Mosgiel and Roslyn Juniors for these pinnacle development leagues only, any teams outside of these leagues will remain as they are in their existing club teams, the three clubs are not merging to become one club. The aim for this move is to ensure that our players do not have to leave their "home" club to develop their football because there is a clear pathway for our elite juniors to aspire to.

Initially the new "hub" will come under the name of DUNEDIN SUBURBS UNITED FC

DUNEDIN SUBURBS UNITED FC will enter a squad of 16 players in each age section. The Youth Development League season starts on Saturday 17 April.

The exciting thing for our Green Island Junior Pathway is that it is a long term commitment from all 3 clubs involved for junior players to stay with their "home club" and progress into a Pinnacle team at Youth Development and beyond.

For any further information about this please go to the Green Island Junior Club Facebook page or website,

Our Club is committed to providing a positive football experience for all our members, we will keep you updated regularly as we work through this new football opportunity for our players.
